Earlier this week, ABC and Fox both announced that they would be making live stream apps available for a number of devices later this year. And now this morning Time Warner’s TNT and TBS are joining the party, offering the same model available this summer. This will be a live stream of their current channel instead of on-demand shows like they currently offer online.
No word on exactly which devices these apps will be available on but more than likely tablets and smartphones. I’m hoping that they will also make apps available for set-top devices such as Roku and Apple TV.
To those of you thinking that this is incentive to “cut the cord” and drop your cable TV subscription you might want to think again. These networks have all indicated that their streaming feeds will only be available to active pay-TV subscribers.
