Rumor of a new Nexus Device?

BGR.com reported today that Google might be working on a new phone possibly named the Nexus 4G.  Specifications include:

  • 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz CPU
  • The display is said to be a 720p HD “monster-sized” screen – meaning at least 4.3″
  • 4G LTE radio – possibly for Verizon or even AT&T
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 1080p Video recording and playback

A couple of other interesting points is that while it only has a 5MP rear camera it is said to be an advanced 5-megapixel sensor delivering class-leading image quality in addition to superior low-light performance.  I say that sounds great…who needs a 12MP camera on a phone?  How often are you really printing poster size shots?  I’m interested to see the performance.  The last bit of information provided is that it likely won’t feature physical Android menu buttons below the screen anymore — everything will be software-based like on all current Android Honeycomb tablets.  No word yet on who the manufacturer is but I’m curious to see this phone.  I wasn’t impressed with the Nexus S and I hope that this new phone will be a leap ahead.  According to the rumor this may be available around November of this year.
